These last two weeks have been a bit on the crazy side for me. I have had two full cooking weeks. Two meals a day, plus a few extra kids to watch, and being a single Mom for a week while hubby went to a Leadership Training session.
This is such an irregular year for us because of the drought. We have started chopping corn silage early, before school has started for the kiddos, so with all the little ones around I made anywhere from 7 to 11 sandwiches a time. Depending on how many were hanging out at Grandma’s.
At the end of my two week stretch I was definitely glad to pass the torch off to my other sister in law. Not because I wasn’t enjoying it- I love cooking. But, mainly because I was going to have to start repeating some stuff. I hate repeating. I bet I could very easily add another 6 or 7 sandwiches in the mix..if our guys were more open to different veggies.
The last two weeks have consisted of a lot of these two in particular:

One thing I didn’t get any photos up last year was of us actually tarping the silage pile. This kind of activity is more like an all hands on deck type of thing. When we tarped on Saturday, we had more kids under the age of ten than we did adults. And I don’t think I can really count myself since about 70% of the time I was dealing with Elliette…who isn’t quite big enough to sit and help hold down the tarp.
But, I think the day went well and ended with a little extra tarp, a water tank, and a slew of kids.
