Recently, my husband has been in an Eric Church kick. Enough to purchase his most recent album on iTunes. Which is pretty impressive for my cheap husband. Needless to say his iTunes is my iTunes. And I listen to lots and lots of music. So, I have also been on an Eric Church kick. And he has a song on there called These Boots.
The song talks about everything “These Boots” have seen. And it made me reflect on everything my husband’s boots have seen. The smart things he has done, the stupid things, the travels, and of course how many pairs he has gone through.
Right before harvest we were asked to test out a pair of Tony Lama work boots. It was actually perfect timing because my husband needed a new pair of work boots and because we both have had surgeries on our feet finding the perfect pair of pair of shoes is hard for us.
These are the boots he chose- and I loved the look of them. They could pass for a nice boot as well! Here are the specifics:
I was excited for him to try these boots because they are slip on…and he would not have ANY excuses for not taking his shoes off when he comes in our kitchen to visit with me through out the day.
We got the box just as we started harvest, so they quickly were put on the back burner. Life is put on back burner for harvest. So, once we got a rainy day my husband pulled them out and put them on.
We got the same size he wears in all his other boots and right off the bat he realized that they were a little bit big. I went and got him some thicker socks and that kind of tightened them up a bit. One thing with boots…in the beginning they should be a little snug because they will stretch.
We concluded that Tony Lamas probably run a little bigger, so we will definitely keep that in mind if we make a purchase from them.
We both loved the look of the boot and they looked great on my husband, and he was pretty excited about the slip on idea too. His good boots are all slip on, but his work boots have all been lace up.
I always worry about the look of a thick sole on slip ones, but this one looked really nice and didn’t make his feet look too big. Neither of us are huge fans of boots that are really wide looking in appearance.
Overall, we were happy with the boots. They are definitely something we would purchase, just in a smaller size! I recommend trying Tony Lamas. They have really great reviews and it was husband’s first pair and he was really impressed. Enough to consider changing over from his own brand he is loyal to! Which is actually pretty surprising to me, because one thing about my husband is he sticks with what works for him…but I definitely see us purchasing a pair once his work boots wear out- which typically take about a year. It will be interesting to see how this pair holds up for the next year! I will add that these are a little bit more than what we would spend for his work boots, not much just about $30 give or take. They may be a bit pricey for nice boots for us, but for work boots the price isn’t too much of an issue, especially since they are worn every single day.
