The Next Generation

April 17, 2012 by Morgan 7 Comments

98% of farms in the United States are family owned and operated.

The average size of a farm in South Dakota is 1,387 acres.

The average age of a farmer in South Dakota is 55.7 years.

There are 46,000 producers in South Dakota on 31,500 farms.

Each year, one South Dakota farmer raises enough food to feed 155 people.

South Dakota has over 2,500 farms that have been in the same family for more than 100 years.

Agriculture is South Dakota’s number one industry. Farming isn’t just a job here. Farming is a passion, a love, and a way of life.

We hope to pass our love of agriculture and love of the land down to our newest addition:

She’s beautiful! And what a sweet name! (I have a slight obsession with vowel names, and that’s a new one for me! Love it!)
