Having a degree in Agricultural Education, there is a big spot in my heart for all teachers like myself. All teachers- not just ag teachers. Recently the hype in South Dakota is the outrageous budget cuts that could potentially be hitting all schools across our state (We won’t know for sure until February). When there is talk of a budget cut in any school system, teachers immediately start to worry about their jobs and their programs. What happens to an Ag teacher if you cut the Ag program? But most importantly- what happens to the students that are enrolled in those classes? I’m not currently teaching and I still feel a bit nervous for my teacher friends. Anyway, on Facebook tonight there was this post that I felt I needed to share with everyone. It really hits home on how much time a teacher really does put into their jobs. ENJOY!!
Teachers’ hefty salaries are driving up taxes, and they only work 9 or10 months a year! It’s time we put things in perspective and pay them for what they do – babysit!

Wow! I sure wish that our state representatives could see this as they keep slashing the school budgets which is causing lots of cuts in the schools! Having been cut this last year myself as a middle school teacher in Iowa, this was interesting to read!
