Old Rakes On The Farm

October 22, 2011 by Morgan 3 Comments

My internet has not been my friend this week or else I would have gotten this up on Thursday as planned!
Anyway, around the time we were tarping our silage pile I noticed this old rake hanging on the side of the bunker.
Maybe I should said “older looking”. It is still a much used rake, but after tarping the pile I convinced my farmer I had to have it for this Fall season.
Super simple project.
Buy some indian corn (or borrow it from my basement). Wire the corn to the rake. Sit outside on it’s handle end.
Easy right? I planned on doing more with it, but then decided that was more ambitious than I wanted to be this year.
I have received loads of compliments and I love it so much I want to just keep it forever. However, I have already been told at the end of Fall it needs to be returned to the side of the bunker on the rack it was hanging on. But, I do see it returning to the front of my house next year!

And you can even insert a cat into the whole Fall display. If you need one of those feel free to contact anyone on our farm. ๐Ÿ™‚

LOVE that, and it’s so simple! I hear you about internet issues. We people out here in the boonies are at the mercy of satellite service that is not very reliable! I’ve been getting kicked off all week! Looks like you are in for some chilly weather and sending it our way! Don’t be too generous ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is really cool, I like it! The cat joke was funny.

Love the corn rack. We have one of those I borrow to move mulch now and then but it always goes back to the barn. Stay warm

I met my husband for the first time face to face on the exit ramp that is now down the road from our home. I lived in South Dakota for a year before I was sure I was ready to do this whole "farm wife" thing...(read more!)
