Fall On The Farm

October 5, 2012 by Morgan 2 Comments

This time of year on our farm we are busy doing all sorts of things. Our schedule is a bit out of wack this year..but what we do remains the same!

This time of year you can find us doing a number of things.

Chopping Corn Silage (A post from earlier this season of us chopping corn silage and a video!)
Combining Wet Corn
Combining Soy Beans
Combining Dry Corn
Calculating Yields
Buying/Selling Cattle
Getting our last cutting of hay
Cleaning equipment and putting it away for the end of the season
Moving cows from pasture to corn stalks
Purchasing seed for next year

And this really only covers the big things I could think of in the last minute or so.

Since it’s still Fall around here I will take the next week or so and talk about some of the different things we do here on the farm.

Today take some time to check out the link above for Chopping Corn Silage- since that is what we typically kick our Fall off with!

And just to keep you smiling…Elliette and I bundled up for a cool day working in the yard!

Sounds really similar to a lot of the checklists we have going on too! It’s amazing how many “hats” we have to wear as agriculturists!

I met my husband for the first time face to face on the exit ramp that is now down the road from our home. I lived in South Dakota for a year before I was sure I was ready to do this whole "farm wife" thing...(read more!)
