Our Surprise….

August 6, 2013 by Morgan 4 Comments

In case you missed it on my Facebook page I officially announced that good news I have been talking about!

Make sure you Like my blog page on Facebook to get more frequent updates.

I have a slew of blog posts I want to write about in the next couple of weeks, but since I have been keeping everyone in the dark about this surprise it seemed only right to share it now.

Especially since the house is still quiet, I have had a chance to shower, and my coffee maker is going.

Anyway…

My good news. A couple of weeks ago we had some visitors out to our place. Some pretty important visitors if I say so myself. The guest list included, a camera crew, one producer, and one important reporter.

Filming our interview in our backyard.

These guests were from the Today Show. The one on NBC. The big one. That you probably watch. A national news channel.

We spent the morning with a camera following us around. And then the afternoon talking about how we met on FarmersOnly.com.

What a day!

I would be lying if I didn’t say we were both nervous. And I worried about what I was going to wear. And I bought a new shirt. One they didn’t even show me wearing in the short clip. Instead I was shown wearing clean farm clothes. Which is just fine too!

I learned the amount of time and energy that goes into a short clip. A full 8 hour day for us! And it was only a 3 minute time slot.

I learned that you have to do things a couple of times to make sure that the feed stays consistent.

I also learned that 15 months olds just like to wave at the camera crew the entire time… She definitely stole the show!

We were both so happy with how it turned out. The staff we worked with from the Today Show were fabulous. And we loved spending the evening with them at our local steak house hearing the stories of the places they have been and the people they have met.

Our crew.

And because it’s still so crazy, a screen shot from my phone of us on the Today Show’s news app.
And…Below, in case you missed it yesterday morning is the clip from the Today Show.

And because I know I have some new followers after the news yesterday, welcome to our life!

Wow! That is cool that you got to tell your love story through national media – not too many people can say that! Nice job and beautiful story.

    Hey ๐Ÿ™‚
I saw your story on the Today show this morning. Our stories are fairly similiar, but mine is a few years behind. I live in Brookings, just graduated from SDSU, and on November 9, I will marry my farmer ๐Ÿ™‚ My love for farming came from what appears to be no where. I grew up in a small city in Colorado…the only time I ever experienced farm life was on occasional field trips to a “farm” (more like a petting zoo) in the rural outskirts of our town. Anyway, I think it is so neat to find someone who is living a life similar to what I envision for my future who lives so close by! I will definitely be reading over your blog and will be checking back for updates ๐Ÿ™‚

How cool! That is so neat you live so close, will you live in Brookings after you are married? We actually got married on November 7- so it is a perfect time of year! Good luck adjusting to your role as a farmer’s wife and be sure to come back and visit often! ๐Ÿ™‚

I met my husband for the first time face to face on the exit ramp that is now down the road from our home. I lived in South Dakota for a year before I was sure I was ready to do this whole "farm wife" thing...(read more!)
