In the world of birthday parties, out of town guests, afternoon cow checks, middle of the night cow checks, children’s museum, butterfly house, and McDonalds.
And then once I found myself again I was lost in all nighters with my sick baby girl, putting my house back together, finding odds and ends that were left behind to be shipped, painting, office work, cleaning, and running to Walmart for milk because I was completely out.
Maybe, I will lose myself again in approximately 15 hours of sleep! Oh, a girl can dream!
Anyway…the last 2 weeks have been nonstop.
I will start with the quick trip I made to Florida. Seems like a good place to start.
I had the honor of being asked to speak at a CFI (The Center For Food Integrity) conference in Orlando, FL. It was beautiful there. We were literally the last flight out of Sioux Falls, SD. The airport had been without power for over an hour and they agreed to let us leave since we were all still sitting around. Thank goodness!
Anyway, I fell into my hotel bed at 3:30 AM. And was up, raring to go, to listen to all the wonderful things different organizations are doing for farmers and ranchers.
It was basically a meeting of some of the major players that are involved in Agriculture awareness. The title of the conference was North American Leaders Session on Animal Agriculture. If that can kind of can give you an idea.
All these awesome people were together from various organization, from the Midwest and Canada; and they were sharing their ideas. Some pretty amazing ones if I might add.
I spent an entire day and a half listening to various strategies on consumer education in regards to animal agriculture.
Whenever I get to sit in a room filled with other farm wives I get a warm, fuzzy feeling of happiness and contentment.
But, sitting in a room where everyone is so focused on helping farmers and ranchers share their story is so incredibly up lifting. These men and woman are working so hard to ensure our message is making an impact. And it truly is so heartwarming to see them working so hard, when some of them don’t even come from farms themselves. They simply see the importance of an informed consumer.
My main purpose at the event was to talk about my blog. Who I am impact, the trends I am seeing, what questions I get asked, etc. It was a pretty easy job and I had lots of questions and I definitely think the things I said made an impact.
At the end of the conference I felt like I should go around and shake everyone’s hand because I felt so blessed to be included at this event. And seeing everyone so hard at work to create a better world for American agriculture is so motivating. It makes my small job of blogging and speaking at various events seems so small!
I stayed at this beautiful Disney Resort. Coronado Springs. And our course I took 3 pictures the entire trip and it was on a cloudy part of the day. But, it was 70 degrees! And free of the 12 inches of snow I left back in South Dakota
I was only gone 2 days and when I got home I immediately stayed up late prepping my basement for its houseguests.
More to share next time about the full house I had and our birthday celebrations!
