So, the ability to re use diapers is something I love. In case you missed it … see Part 1
At first, I thought the whole laundering process would a be a pain in the rear. But, once you get into a routine with it, it really is no big deal.
And for those of you wondering about putting messy diapers in your washing machine. Around here I have put much worse in my washing machine..I am married to a beef farmer. There are times stuff comes home on his clothes I could only imagine what he was into that day.
With messy diapers it helps to rinse them off first before putting them in the washer. If it helps, wear gloves. But, as all Moms know…eventually you will get your baby’s poop on your hands..
At the end of every day I get everything back to normal in Ellie’s room. It helps to stick to cloth diapers when you are ready for the new day once she wakes up. Sometimes I wait to get things put back together until the next day and I always feel like I am running way behind.
These are Sweet Pea’s One Size Pocket Diapers. My husband prefers these. You use them once a day and then they go into the laundry.
That long piece in the center goes inside the pocket for absorbancy.
Looks like a regular diaper but in Buttercream yellow. This is on the smallest size. It fits Ellie now and has since about 7ish weeks.
This is completely unsnapped, so as large as it will go. I put one on my 2, will be 3 this November, nephew a few weeks ago and it fit perfectly.
These are Best Bottom’s One Size Insert Diaper. I prefer these. You can use the liner all day long and just replace the inserts. If you have a messy diaper you simply get a new liner.
And they really have some absolutely adorable patterns.
The system we use for holding the dirty diapers is a dry pail method. Which means we toss them in this trashcan lined with a laundry like bag.
Once I get a few dirty diapers in the pail for the day I just shake a little of this and it works wonders with the smell.
For cloth diapering on the go we have two small wet bags we just throw into the diaper bag. I bought the girly one because I thought it complimented my diaper bag well and then I realized that my husband probably wouldn’t like the all girly look of it, so I bought him the monkey one.
We also have a diaper pail for disposable diapers in the room and I can tell you for sure that it smells a lot worse than my dirty cloth diapers’ pail.
We can go about 2.5 days before I really need to wash a load of cloth diapers. It is really important to use plant based detergents on cloth diapers because of something to do with whether or not they start to stink as time goes on. If you want to know more google it.
With the messy diapers I use this Bac-Out that was a gift from my close friend who cloth diapers, mentioned in Part 1 as being the cause of this new addiction I have. I use the spray on the messy diapers and have had no problems with stains.
I do a Quick Wash on Cold with a Pre Soak and then I wash Normally on Hot with an Extra Rinse. Works magnificent. It took me a couple of loads to finally find out a good combination on my washing machine.
Then, I try to get them out on the clothes line. If I can’t I will use the dryer, but the clothesline works amazing for drawing out the stains.
This is my tid bit on cloth diapering. I am by no means an expert. But, will try my best to answer the questions you might have about what works for me!

These came from 3 places- one place here in SD. And then Kelly’s Closet and Nappy Shoppe. Google both and you can get pretty much everything at either of those places
